Athirampuzha Church

St. Mary’s Forane Church, Athirampuzha, a world renowned pilgrim centre of St.Sebastian is dedicated to Blessed Virgin Mary. This church is about 10Kms away from Kottayam has been the hub of Christian life in and around central Kerala, India from early 9th century. This is one of the biggest parishes of the Archeparchy of Changanassery.

 

Chavara Bhavan – the ancestral home of St. Kuriakose Elias Chavara

Chavara Bhavan is the ancestral home of St. Kuriakose Elias Chavara. This shrine is located in the idyllic village of Kainakary, which is completely surrounded by water. Therefore, the only way to reach Chavara Bhavan is by a boat. It is now a holy shrine and spiritual resort where thousands of devotees gather for prayer, receive favours and feel amply gratified. Here, a 250 year old historically important beacon of light is preserved intact in its original and primitive form.

Alphonsa Bhavan – Birth place of St. Alphonsa

The house where St. Alphonsa was born and brought up has become a Pilgrim Centre under the name “Alphonsa Bhavan”.  In the year 1975, the FCC Deva Matha Province Changanacherry bought the birth house and the surrounding plot of land and converted it into a pilgrim centre. Keeping intact the main part of the birth house, a wonderful protective structure was built encompassing the house. A beautiful chapel also was put up in the same campus. The room where St. Alphonsa was born, the cot used by her, the history of the FC Congregation, the beautifully depicted 20 mysteries of the holy rosary etc. is added attractions to the pilgrims.
