May Crowning | Blessed Virgin Mary | Mathavinte Vanakkamasam

It is a tradition in the Catholic Church to dedicate each month of the year to a certain devotion. In the month of May, it is the Blessed Virgin Mary.

May devotions to the Blessed Virgin Mary, refer to special Marian devotions held in the Catholic Church during honoring the Virgin Mary as “the Queen of May”.

A “May Crowning” is a traditional Roman Catholic ritual that occurs in the month of May (Mathavinte Vanakkamasam).  These services may take place in the church or in families. People get together in their respective areas, pray the Holy Rosary and other prayers requesting for the divine intercession of Mother Mary in their lives.
