Candle Rosary Procession Kuravilangad Church Ettu Nombu 2018 Day 6

Kuravilangad Church Ettu Nombu Thirunal 2018 Day 6

Novena to St. Joseph

*NOVENA PRAYER
*(prayer to be said at the end of each day’s devotion)
Saint Joseph, I, your unworthy child, greet you. You are the faithful protector and intercessor of all who love and venerate you. You know that I have special confidence in you and that, after Jesus and Mary, I place all my hope of salvation in you, for you are especially powerful with God and will never abandon your faithful servants. Therefore I humbly invoke you and commend myself, with all who are dear to me and all that belong to me, to your intercession. I beg of you, by your love for Jesus and Mary, not to abandon me during life and to assist me at the hour of my death.

Glorious Saint Joseph, spouse of the Immaculate Virgin, obtain for me a pure, humble, charitable mind, and perfect resignation to the divine Will. Be my guide, my father, and my model through life that I may merit to die as you did in the arms of Jesus and Mary.

Loving Saint Joseph, faithful follower of Jesus Christ, I raise my heart to you to implore your powerful intercession in obtaining from the Divine Heart of Jesus all the graces necessary for my spiritual and temporal welfare, particularly the grace of a happy death, and the special grace I now implore:

(Mention your request).

Guardian of the Word Incarnate, I feel confident that your prayers in my behalf will be graciously heard before the throne of God. Amen.

MEMORARE
Remember, most pure spouse of Mary, ever Virgin, my loving protector, Saint Joseph, that no one ever had recourse to your protection or asked for your aid without obtaining relief. Confiding, therefore, in your goodness, I come before you and humbly implore you. Despise not my petitions, foster-father of the Redeemer, but graciously receive them. Amen.

We know Joseph was a man of faith, obedient to whatever God asked of him without knowing the outcome. When the angel came to Joseph in a dream and told him the truth about the child Mary was carrying, Joseph immediately and without question or concern for gossip, took Mary as his wife. When the angel came again to tell him that his family was in danger, he immediately left everything he owned, all his family
and friends, and fled to a strange country with his young wife and the baby. He waited in Egypt without question until the angel told him it was safe to go back.

Prayer for persecuted Christians

Father in Heaven, you make your sun shine on good and bad alike. You son Jesus Christ died for us all and in his glorious Resurrection. He still retains the five wounds of his Passion. With his divine power he now sustains all those who suffer persecution and martyrdom for the sake of their fidelity to the faith of the Church. Merciful and mighty Father, do not allow Cain to return again to murder helpless and innocent Abel.

May persecuted Christians around the world remain, like Mary, their Mother, together at the foot of the cross of Christ our divine master, Comfort those menaced by violence and those oppressed by uncertainty.

May your Holy Spirit of love make fruitful the witness and the blood of those who die forgiving.

Father, forgive those who persecute your servants; for they know not what they do. Amen.

Prayer for spouses for one another

Jesus, You saw so much value in the love between husband and wife that You elevated married life to a sacramental level. I know that marriage is a sign of the love and unity that exists between You and Your Church.

Continue to give Your help to us that our love may grow day by day. Help us to realize that our love must overflow into the world around us. Give us strength in times of trial and difficulty; give us happiness, security, and the joy of seeing our love expand beyond ourselves to others. I ask this through the intercession of Mary and her beloved spouse, St. Joseph. Amen.

Ettu Nombu – 2015 – St. Mary’s Forane Church, Kuravilangad

The church at Kuravilangad was constructed in the third century, just one hundred years before Constantine declared Christianity as the official religion in the Roman Empire.

The land is blessed by the esteemed presence of St. Mary’s Forane Church.According to tradition prevalent in Kuravilangad the church was founded in 345 A.D It is believed, Mother Mary’s first appearance in the world, was in Kuravilangad. Our Lady appeared to a few children at Kuravilangad, who were tending their flock in the bushes. Our Lady asked them to build a church at the place from where a miraculous perpetual spring sprouted, a spring which exists even today. The children reported the events to the elders and a church was built there. The church is noted for its old bell, which contains inscriptions belonging to some unknown script. Another significant artifact is a model of a ship made from wood.  Read More – Source: wikipedia

Japamala – Shalom Night Vigil – June 2015

“Say the Rosary every day…
Pray, pray a lot and offer sacrifices for sinners…
I’m Our Lady of the Rosary.
Only I will be able to help you.
…In the end My Immaculate Heart will triumph.”

Our Lady at Fatima

The Holy Rosary is considered a perfect prayer because within it lies the awesome story of our salvation. With the Rosary in fact we meditate the mysteries of joy, of sorrow and the glory of Jesus and Mary. It’s a simple prayer, humble so much like Mary. It’s a prayer we can all say together with Her, the Mother of God. With the Hail Mary we invite Her to pray for us. Our Lady always grants our request. She joins Her prayer to ours. Therefore it becomes ever more useful, because what Mary asks She always receives, Jesus can never say no to whatever His Mother asks for. In every apparition, the heavenly Mother has invited us to say the Holy Rosary as a powerful weapon against evil, to bring us to true peace. With your prayer made together with Your heavenly Mother, you can obtain the great gift of bringing about a change of hearts and conversion. Each day, through prayer you can drive away from yourselves and from your homeland many dangers and many evils. The word Rosary means “Crown of Roses”. Our Lady has revealed to several people that each time they say a Hail Mary they are giving her a beautiful rose and that each complete Rosary makes her a crown of roses. The rose is the queen of flowers, and so the Rosary is the rose of all devotions and it is therefore the most important one.

Arise, cry out in the night,
as the watches of the night begin;
pour out your heart like water
in the presence of the Lord. (Lamentations 2:19)

A Trinitarian night of miracles, an amazing spiritual experience.

Every First Friday, the whole of Shalom family gather together to pray for the world. On the still silence of the night, they offer before the Blessed Sacrament all the prayer intentions coming through post, phone, e-mail and fax. Simultaneously, special prayer service for the public is conducted within the office of Shalom.

It is a day of blessings. The Lord touches many who are lost in despair. The sick are healed! Sinners are liberated! Youth groping in darkness find a new light! Peace return to shattered families!

Shalom Night Vigil is a spiritually nourishing programme which includes Rosary, Praise and Worship, Sharing of the Word, Narration of Testimonies, Adoration and Holy Mass which comes on all first Fridays. Many a soul finds solace of mind and heart as well as realizes the love of our heavenly Father participating in it. The Lord has enormously blessed many people through this enriching programme and it is attested by the thousands of letters and phone calls receiving in Shalom.

You might begin that night with cries of despair, but surely you cannot help but end it with tears of joy rolling down your cheeks, because your Lord will definitely visit you that night.

Watch it on Shalom TV every First Friday starting at 8.00 p.m. IST.

Thirteenth Station: Jesus is taken down from the cross

Station XIII Jesus is taken down from the cross

Station XIII Jesus is taken down from the cross

PRAYER

Leader: We adore you, O Christ, and we praise you.

All: Because by your holy cross You have redeemed the world.

Jesus, how brutally you were put to death. How gently you are taken from the cross. Your suffering and pain are ended, and you are put in the lap of your mother. The dirt and blood are wiped away. You are treated with love.

As a child, sometimes I treat others better when they’re sad or in pain. When somebody dies, I become very gentle and kind. I notice the good and kind things people say about those who have died.

As an adult, I seem to be kinder when someone dies. If only I could learn to see the good things about them while they were alive. If only I would tell those around me how much I love them, while I still have the opportunity to do so.

Help me look for the good in those around me, especially those I love the most. Help me live this day as if it were the last. Help me become a more gentle and loving person through my greater appreciation for those around me.

O Mary, Mother most sorrowful, the sword of grief pierced thy soul when thou didst see Jesus lying lifeless on thy bosom; obtain for me hatred of sin because sin slew thy Son and wounded thine own heart, and grace to live a Christian life and save my soul.

Our Father…. Hail Mary…. Glory be to the Father….

Leader: Jesus Christ Crucified.
All: Have mercy on Us.
Leader: May the souls of the faithful departed, through the mercy of God, Rest in peace.
All: Amen.

Heart touching devotional song narrating about the station in this video is written by Fr. Abel C.M.I. in Malayalam Language of Kerala State, India. All viewers may not understand the meaning of the lyrics, but the music will surely touch your heart. This video also contains short narration and images of some of the places like Gethsemane, Golgotha, Jerusalem, Tomb of Jesus etc. These pieces of information and images are collected from the Internet. I am not sure about the correctness of the same. The aim of the video is to make the people think about the burdens and sorrows Jesus took for us.

If possible, it is good to pray and meditate Way of the Cross daily which will give peace and happiness to mind and also protect from Satan and Sin.

May the crucified Jesus Bless you and your family.

PRAYER

Leader: We adore you, O Christ, and we praise you.
All: Because by your holy cross You have redeemed the world.

Jesus, you feel so alone with all those people yelling and screaming at you. You don’t like the words they are saying about you, and you look for a friendly face in the crowd. You see your mother. She can’t make the hurting stop, but it helps to see that she is on your side, that she is suffering with you. She does understand and care.

As a child, sometimes I feel like too many things are going on. Sometimes other kids pick on me and call me names. I need to look around me for a friendly face, and for the help I need. I need to share my troubles with those who truly care about me.

As an adult, I sometimes feel overwhelmed by many things. Life is so competitive, and I worry so much about my future and those who have some control over it. I need to remember that being an adult does not mean having to solve every problem all by myself. I need to look around me for a friendly face, for the help I need.

Jesus most suffering, Mary Mother most sorrowful, if, by my sins, I caused you pain and anguish in the past, by God’s assisting grace it shall be so no more; rather be you my love henceforth till death.

Our Father…. Hail Mary…. Glory be to the Father….

Leader: Jesus Christ Crucified.
All: Have mercy on Us.
Leader: May the souls of the faithful departed, through the mercy of God, Rest in peace.
All: Amen.

Illumination reflection in the pond water – Night time – Photo challenge

The St. Mary’s Church at Athirampuzha is one of the oldest in Kerala. Though dedicated to Mother Mary, it is the feast of Saint Sebastian which attracts a large crowd. Main celebration and procession at night is on Jan.24th and 25th. I have captured a few photos when I attended this function in Jan.2012.  I have posted more photos in my earlier post.
