Jesus Heals Two Blind Men

Jesus healing the blind menMatthew 9:27-31

27 As Jesus went on from there, two blind men followed him, crying loudly, “Have mercy on us, Son of David!”
28 When he entered the house, the blind men came to him; and Jesus said to them, “Do you believe that I am able to do this?” They said to him, “Yes, Lord.”
29 Then he touched their eyes and said, “According to your faith let it be done to you.”
30 And their eyes were opened. Then Jesus sternly ordered them, “See that no one knows of this.”
31 But they went away and spread the news about him throughout that district.

The faith of these two men is stressed in the story. First, they cried out to Jesus for help. They formed an opinion about Jesus in order to do that; they believed that He was able to heal them. The Lord was fully able to give them sight, but He waited until He was able to draw from them a statement of their faith. Jesus probably waited til they followed Him indoors to test their faith further.  Jesus asked them, “Do you believe that I am able to do this?”  Their answer to Jesus’ question affirms their strong faith.

Jesus touched their eyes. He gives sight to blind. He heals souls by the power of his grace going with his word, and he puts the cure upon their faith. Those who apply to Jesus Christ, shall be dealt with, not according to their status, fancies, nor according to their profession, but according to their faith. It does not matter whether we are  receiving physical sight or spiritual understanding, faith is the prerequisite. Whoever comes to Christ must believe that He is the promised Messiah, Son of David, Greatest Physician and that He has the power and the authority to heal physically and spiritually.

Remember, when we pray to Jesus for any kind of healing or any other matter, He is asking us ““Do you believe that I am able to do this?”. Your prayer will be answered according to your reply to Jesus. Sometimes He may wait us to follow Him indoors to test faith further. Sometimes no answer will receive immediately, no healing will happen immediately as we expect, but if we continue praying with strong faith, Jesus will surely answer and heal.

Some people are physically blind and some are spiritually blind. Let us pray for everyone to have strong faith in Jesus. May Jesus heal them, give them physical sight to see the world and spiritual sight to lead a happy and successful life as per the will of God.
