Athirampuzha Church Procession

The St. Mary’s Church at Athirampuzha is one of the oldest in Kerala. Though dedicated to Mother Mary, it is the feast of Saint Sebastian which attracts a large crowd. This annual feast is being held from 19th January to 1st February every year. The event is a gigantic one with lacs of people visiting the place during the feast days and especially on the two main days – 24th and 25th January. It is a great blessing to attend this celebration. This photo is part of the 3 hrs long procession. This is an achievement that took part in the celebration of this World renowned pilgrim centre

I took this photo of sun through the trees, in Kerala State, India. Sun rays are very powerful and bright even through small empty spaces between big trees filled with leaves. Holy Spirit is powerful than Sun rays and have the power to fill brightness in heart if there is little faith and repentance. The St. Mary’s Church at Athirampuzha is one of the oldest in Kerala. Though dedicated to Mother Mary, it is the feast of Saint Sebastian which attracts a large crowd. Main celebration and procession at night is on Jan.24th and 25th. I have captured a few photos when I attended this function in Jan.2012.  I have posted more photos in my earlier post.

Weekly Photo Challenge: ENDURANCE

This is not a statue, but two boys were sitting in this Tableau in a jeep van for more than 2 hrs during Church procession on the street.

These young girls played well without tiring during church procession for more than 2 hrs.
